CPS Construction hosting motorcycle diaper run for foster families

CPS Construction hosting motorcycle diaper run for foster families

A local construction company is partnering with the One More One Less Project to provide support for foster families with small children

The inaugural motorcycle diaper run will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Participants will bring diapers which will then be distributed to foster families.

Aedyn Concepcion with CPS Construction said the company is organizing, hosting and funding it all to support One More One Less. The non-profit brings churches together to support and promote children and families in foster care, adoption and reunification.

“It is an honor for One More One Less Project to be a conduit of grace for families in Cleveland County and beyond,” said Amy Bridges, community care director. “Whether that be collecting diapers to getting families connected with laundry help or meals to being able to pray and walk through this journey with so many families.”

She said One More One Less couldn’t be more thankful for their partnership with CPS Construction.

“We are so grateful that CPS sees and shares the value of what we do and how they are always willing to go above and beyond to help others in their community.”

Late registration will start at 3:30 pm, and at 4 pm the riders will leave for Shelby Mission Camp at 302 Sharpton Drive in Shelby. The event will go until 7 pm

“The event is completely free,” Concepcion said. “The inspiration behind this whole thing is it came to our attention that foster families are only given a flat rate per month for these kids, and we just don’t think it’s enough. Diapers are expensive, having kids is expensive. We’re trying to help with that.”

He said they are encouraging everyone to bring diapers to build a stockpile which can then be distributed to those families.

“This is the first time we were hosting it, so hopefully we can make it an annual thing,” Concepcion said. “The plan is it will be an annual thing.”

He said on the day of the ride, everyone will leave the church and ride with the diapers that they bring. He said people don’t have to have a motorcycle and can go by car as well. Once everyone arrives at Shelby Mission Camp, there will be free food, a corn hole tournament and entertainment by Shelby musician, Lindy Bryson. Everyone who brings diapers will be entered into a drawing for door prizes.

People can register in advance online at the CPS Construction website and will need to fill out a waiver at cpsconstruction.com.
