Here’s when you can tour Bay City fire stations

BAY CITY, MI – Bay City residents next month will have a chance to tour the city’s four fire stations – including Fire Station 5, which closed much to the dismay of many earlier this year.

Fire station infrastructure will be provided on Monday 2nd September, Tuesday 3rd September and 17th and 18th September.

“We invite you to join us for a unique opportunity to visit each fire station to gain insight into the conditions under which our dedicated firefighters operate every day,” fire department officials wrote in a Facebook post . “This event is an informational session designed to shed light on the infrastructure challenges our firefighters face on a daily basis.”

Station 1, 1401 Center Ave., will be visited on September 3. A tour of Station 2, 1000 Fremont St., is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 4.

On Sept. 17, residents will have a chance to tour the 4,212 S. Dean St. station, and Station 5, 1209 E. Smith St., which officials said closed due to its poor condition, is scheduled for a tour per sept. 18.

Tours will be guided, giving residents a first-hand, up-close tour of the living spaces, equipment and maintenance areas.

Each tour will also include a question-and-answer session, allowing residents to talk to firefighters about the infrastructure challenges they face.

The department will also detail how each fire station will continue to change in the coming years, according to the post.

“Your participation will help us foster a deeper understanding of the critical need for fire station improvements and our ability to operate both efficiently and effectively within the parameters of our budget,” the post read.
