Traffic pattern change coming to portion of Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – City officials announced Friday there will soon be a change to the traffic pattern on a portion of Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard in the Five Points South neighborhood of Birmingham.

As part of the city’s $12.9 million street resurfacing project for 2024, RAJ Blvd. has been repaved from the 1600 block to Highland Avenue.

That section of RAJ Blvd. will convert to two-way traffic on Monday, Sept. 23 as part of the city’s complete streets strategy.

The change in traffic pattern includes a four-way stop to reduce traffic speed and enhance safety for pedestrians.

The city says motorists are encouraged to make note of this change and adhere to signage and lane directional striping.

You can see the map above with details of the change.
