This ‘Dancing with the Stars’ cast member was arrested for domestic violence

“Dancing with the Stars” dancer Artem Chigvintsev, who performed with celebrity guests on the show, was arrested for felony domestic violence in Northern California on Thursday, according to a Napa County sheriff’s spokesperson.

Napa County sheriff’s deputies arrested the 42-year-old professional dancer just before 10 am in Yountville after a 911 call reporting domestic violence, Officer Henry Wonford told NBC News.

He was booked on California penal code 273.5(a), which makes it illegal to injure a spouse, cohabitant or fellow parent in an act of domestic violence. Bail has been set at $25,000, according to Good Morning America.

After posting bail, Chigvintsev was released around 2:15 pm PT Thursday afternoon.

Being booked doesn’t mean Chigvintsev was formally charged. Wonford told NBC News that the Napa County District Attorney’s Office would file any charges in the case.

A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office said Thursday the office doesn’t have the case yet and will review it once it’s received.

Details have not yet been shared on who the victim is, as the Sheriff’s department told ABC News that they are giving the person “adequate time to deal with what unfolded before making the person talk more to detectives.”

They also added that the victim has been forthcoming with initial information to deputies.

The Russian-born dancer, who has completed 12 seasons of “Dancing with the Stars,” is married to former WWE wrestler Nikki Garcia and shares a 4-year-old son named Mateo.

The couple competed together on season 25 of the show and married in August 2022.
