Usher postpones shows on Past, Present, Future tour due to neck injury

Usher postpones shows on Past, Present, Future tour due to neck injury

Usher is postponing more shows on his Past Present Future tour after initially canceling his Aug. 14 opener.

The artist took to his Instagram on Thursday to share that he is rescheduling his first three dates in Atlanta after suffering a neck injury while rehearsing and needing more time to heal.

“Earlier this week I hurt my neck while rehearsing to give my fans the best Usher show ever,” he wrote. “My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night. Unfortunately, the wound has not healed yet and my doctors have instructed me not to do any shows this week. The good news is that the doctors say that with proper rest and treatment, I should be ready to start the tour in Washington DC on August 20.”

Usher continued: “I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this wound needs to be healed so that I can give you the 100% excellence that you expect from an Usher show and that I will be on stage in your city very soon. ”

The August 14th show at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena has been rescheduled for December 9th, August 16th for December 10th and August 17th for December 12th.

Usher initially postponed his first show, telling fans on Wednesday that he needed to “give my body a second to rest and heal,” though he did not reveal his injury at the time.

“For my 30+ year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears have gone into delivering the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” the singer wrote in a now-deleted post by then. “I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well, which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show.”

He continued at the time: “You’ll still get a bit of the past, a bit of the present and a unique glimpse into the future on the rescheduled date, but you’ll also get 100% of me. The last thing I want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to begin. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I couldn’t physically give you my best. My team will share news about the rescheduled date soon. I look forward to celebrating this legacy with you.”

It’s been a busy few years for Usher, who headlined the 2024 Super Bowl earlier this year and wraps up his 100-show My Way Las Vegas residency in December 2023. His Past Present Future tour, which includes stops in North America and Europe, is scheduled to run until May 2025.
