Emergency crews at the scene of the tractor trailer rollover

NORTH HAVEN, CT. (WFSB) – Emergency crews are working to clear a tractor trailer that overturned early this morning.

According to the North Haven Fire Department, the tractor trailer was carrying scrap metal and was making a turn onto Universal Drive when it rolled onto its side and lost its load.

The driver was uninjured, but the tractor was left unstable and airborne.

Engine 2, Rescue 1 and volunteer Engine 6 responded to the scene along with Nelson Ambulance and found the truck leaking hydraulic fluid on the roadway.

The units spread absorbent material to contain runoff and prevent it from entering storm drains.

Notifications were made to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the state police truck crew and the owner of the vehicle.

Nelcon Towing was on scene and assisted in stabilizing the vehicle pending hydraulic leak control and removal.

All residents are urged to be cautious in the area for the next 2 to 4 hours while the cleanup is completed.
