We are happy to associate with her – Sanwo-Olu praises new CJN Kekere-Ekun

He said the appointment was well deserved.

Sanwo-Olu, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile on Friday, said Lagos State was proud to produce Nigeria’s second female Chief Justice.

According to him, the uncompromising judge is a good ambassador of Lagos State, especially the judiciary.

He recalled that Kekere-Ekun served with passion for over two decades in various judicial capacities before her elevation to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court in 2004 and 2013 respectively.

Sanwo-Olu urged her to continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity, fairness and justice for which she was known in the discharge of her duties.

The governor urged the new appointee to strive to ensure that the judiciary remains the true hope of the common man.

“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate the Amazon, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, on her appointment as the Acting Head of Nigeria.

“The emergence of a Lagos indigene, Kekere-Ekun, as the second female CJN is a joy to us and we are happy to associate with her.

“The appointment of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun is well deserved and given her background as an experienced jurist with over 30 years at the bar and bench, as a legal practitioner and judge in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, she will don’t let Nigeria down,he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar she was appointed Nigeria’s first female CJN from July 2012 to November 2014.
