Netflix viewers have a devastating question after watching a documentary about the Laci Peterson murder

Netflix viewers have a devastating question after watching a documentary about the Laci Peterson murder

Viewers of a new Netflix documentary have been left devastated by the horrific scenes.

American Crime: Laci Peterson is the latest true-crime documentary released by the streaming giant that tackles violence against women.

Laci Peterson was murdered in 2002 by her husband, Scott Lee Peterson, while she was eight months pregnant.

She was 27 years old.

Laci disappeared from the home she shared with Scott in California, and then her husband reported her missing.

In 2003, her remains were discovered on the shores of San Francisco Bay.

The following year, Scott was found guilty of the first-degree murder of his wife, as well as the second-degree murder of their unborn child.

Scott maintains his innocence despite the overwhelming amount of evidence against him – and the new Netflix documentary does its best to bring him to justice.

It is revealed that Scott was having an affair at the time of the murder.

Scott is now serving life in prison without the possibility of parole, a lesser sentence compared to his original death sentence, which was overturned in 2020.

Spectators of American Crime: Laci Peterson took to social media to share the same thought after learning about the case.

Many people are left wondering why men like Scott end up killing their wives while they’re cheating — instead of getting a divorce.

It’s an all-too-common occurrence that highlights the true scale of violence against women.

One person wrote on X: “Watching the new Laci Peterson documentary and I will never be able to wrap my head around these men thinking murder is a better solution than divorce……..”

Another said: “Something I will never understand is why men choose to kill their wives when they are having an affair. It’s a common pattern in many true crime cases I follow.

“Wouldn’t it make more sense to leave? They’re acting like they’re going to get rid of the problem, and they won’t.”

A third added: “The #LaciPeterson case is so heartbreaking. Especially when the mother asks why he had to kill her.

“He could have left her. He could have left her and been with someone else. And it’s so true because why violence is always their first instinct. Being a woman is a curse.”

Scott recently spoke out for the first time in decades in an upcoming Peacock documentary, Face to face with Scott Peterson.

He still maintains his innocence.

He said: “If I get a chance to show people what the truth is and if they’re willing to accept it, that would be the biggest thing I can achieve right now – because I didn’t kill my family.”

American Crime: Laci Peterson is now streaming on Netflix.
