From Tennessee to California, families are calling for humanitarian parole for children adopted from Haiti

Adopted children living in Haitian orphanages have suffered multiple emergency evacuations as gangs rob and pillage their way through once peaceful communities. Dozens of families across the US, from Tennessee to California, are trying to bring them home as the Caribbean country crumbles under gang violence. They accuse the US government of forcing families to travel to the capital Port-au-Prince, 80 percent of which is controlled by gangs, to complete adoptions as they seek humanitarian parole. It was an opportunity given earlier this year to a few other kids, but not theirs.
